We make a winter garden with our own hands – a practical guide

Exhaust gases, an increased content of carbon dioxide, toxic substances and suspension in the street air, leads destructively on the body of both a child and an adult. Therefore, it will be useful to make a corner of calm and health at home, in the form of a winter garden. It is especially pleasant in it during severe frosts and spring slush, when there is only snow and dirt outside, and your at home is a riot of greenery! Green plants in the house are useful, firstly, they purify the air of toxins, secondly-they form oxygen, and, thirdly, the greens are very soothing and makes it possible to relax. In addition, the green corner is very beautiful and unusual.

Choose a place for the winter garden and prepare it

It is best to take a separate room under a green corner, since plants are needed for a comfortable existence, several other conditions are needed. This is increased humidity, temperature and illumination. In the apartment you can equip a loggia for these purposes, and in the house – a terrace. It is important that the windows of the winter garden go east, then the sun’s rays will not be so destructive. But if there is no such possibility, then you can choose the southern or western side, but then you should get blinds. Open areas should be glazed using double or triple glazing, and the walls are insulated with polystyrene or other insulation.

Choosing heating for the garden

In winter, your garden should be heated, since no insulation can provide the desired temperature. To do this, ordinary radiator heating will go, but for the best effect and more natural heating, the “warm floor” system should be installed.

Ventilation of the room

Plants release a large amount of water, therefore, humidity in such a room will be increased. And if you do not want the formation of rot and mold and subsequent destruction of the house, then you should take care of ventilation. You can use passive using windows, but it is better to install a forced ventilation or air conditioning system.

Garden lighting

Unfortunately, in the autumn and winter period, the duration of daylight hours is not sufficient for the correct growth of decorative trees. Installation of additional lighting is a prerequisite for the winter garden. For these purposes, halogen lamps, LED lamps and ultraviolet sources of light are suitable.
