The floor covering in the room always attracts attention. What to do if the wooden floor in our apartment during the “longery” service lost its original appearance? No need to immediately “mask” scuffs and scratches with linoleum or rugs. Let’s try to restore the former beauty of a wooden floor.
The advantages of a wooden floor
Natural material
Durability of operation
Convenience and comfort
In order for the wooden floor to sparkle again, you need very little. Just desire, effort, some tools, as well as recommendations from this article. So, we start.
Remove the old coating and grind the floor
In fact, this is not so difficult. True, the procedure requires patience and time. If the floor area, for example, is 30 m, then the grinding process can drag on for a couple of days. We stock up with sandpaper or a grinding skin and proceed to the case. Grinding materials are large -grained (from No. 40) and fine -grained (to No. 240).
The choice of grinding machines
For work, we will need special equipment – machines for processing angles and edges, flat -grinding and disk machines. They can be bought in a store or rented in a special company. Consultants will answer all questions about the operation of machines and the selection of materials for them.
The initial stage of work
Using a disk grinding machine, we process the floor surface with coarse abrasive material. First we determine the direction of the fibers of the boards and go diagonally. In this way, the upper old floor layer is easily removed and the working surface is smoothed out.
For processing angles, skirting boards and stairs, a special grinding machine is perfect.
When using cars, you should change sandpaper in time.
Thin grinding
At this stage, we take a flat -grinding machine to perform thin grinding surface. To do this, use a soft polish circle and fine -grained sandpaper. Thin grinding is the most “dusty” stage of work. Therefore, you need to periodically remove the dust that arises from a working grinding machine.
We apply a primer
The primer is a “connecting link” between the floor surface and a layer of varnish. After drying the primer, an opaque film is formed on the floor surface, which contributes to a qualitative application of a layer of varnish.
To apply a primer, use a roller or brush. As a rule, one layer of primer coating is quite enough.
We varnish the surface of the floor
After drying the primer, we move on to the finish stage of work – applying varnish. What is varnish? This is a solution that forms a solid transparent shell on the working surface. The lacquered surface gives wooden products an exquisite and shiny look. In addition, varnish protects the tree from moisture and minor mechanical damage.
Today, manufacturers provide high -quality varnish coatings that have a number of undoubted advantages at the services of consumers. Such varnishes:
• do not have a pungent odor
• quickly dry
• have high wear resistance
• do not respond to the influence of household “chemistry”
The varnish is applied using a roller and evenly distributed over the entire surface of the wooden floor. It should be remembered that you need to move parallel to the direction of the wood fibers. After applying the first layer of varnish, the floor must be sanded again. To do this, you need a flat -grinding machine with fine -grained sandpaper (number 120). This is necessary in order to remove all minor irregularities and villi on the floor surface. Then we apply the finish layer of varnish and wait until the tree dries.
Thus, we can give a new life to a wooden coating that has lost. After all, how nice it is to step on a clean and brilliant floor! And if your own work is attached to this, then it is doubly pleasant.
